Customizable menus on the button bar have submenus, making it easy to organize URLs by topic. The program now keeps track of up to 320 Internet addresses for easy reference.
Case It Investigator runs natively on the Macintosh OSX operating system. The Windows version runs on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
Investigator is completely customizable, with button names, menu items, and screen text all determined by contents of simple text and html files that are read each time the program opens.
The program automatically opens the user's web browser to relevant web sites via links in the text and also links accessed via customizable pop-up menus.
Case descriptions have been written with different family names for each case scenario.
All human genetics and infectious case descriptions in Case It! Investigator version 2 have multiple scenarios to increase variability in results.
Investigator keeps track of pages opened in the user's web browser, and allows these sites to be revisted by clicking on a scrolling list of site names.
Investigator can start Case It! version 5 or any other application on the user's hard drive useful for case analysis. Students select applications from a customizable pop-up menu.
The program includes a key to cases accessed via a password known only to the instructor. The full version of the Resource Manual, a Word document, also contains this information.
