Now click the "Tools" button, and note that a list of shortcuts (Windows) or aliases (Macintosh) appear. This menu will allow you to open any application on your hard drive, provided you have previously created a shortcut or alias to the application and dragged it to the Case It Investigator folder, and listed the shortcut or alias name on the "add applications.txt" file that is also inside the Case It Investigator folder.

The first shortcut listed here is a logical one to have, since it would open the Case It simulation used to analyze DNA and protein samples for cases described in Case It Investigator. Assume that a shortcut to this application is in the Case It Investigator folder, and select the menu item to open this application...
