Scroll down to see the steps for creating customizable pop-up questions to interrupt the video sequences.

1. By default, pop-up questions are not activated. Use the 'Questions' menu to activate them, as shown below.

2. As an example of how pop-up questions work, use the 'Video cases' button to activate the 'Anna' video sequence...

3. Click the black triangle under the video image to start the video. Note that it stops automatically after 2333 'ticks' (shown in upper left field), and questions appear below the video. Scroll down to continue...

4. To see how these questions were created, open up the file 'annaquestions.txt' in the 'Anna' folder, using Word instead of Notepad to see proper formatting. Note that up to 10 questions are possible per video sequence. In this example only three of the 10 possible questions are used. Note that blank lines have been entered to separate questions (compare graphics above and below).

Since there are fewer than 100000 ticks in the video, in this example the video will not be interrupted after the third question. To add additional questions, the number '1000000' should be replaced by the number of ticks at which you want the video to stop. Scroll down to continue...

5. To create additional questions, run the video to determine the stopping points (ticks), and modify the appropriate lines in the text file as shown above. This can be done for any of the HIV cases.

Note: The above questions were included in the 'annaquestions.txt' file for illustrative purposes only. You will need to come up with your own questions for this or any of the other cases if you want to use this feature. Each video folder has a 'questions' text file for this purpose - these are read each time Investigator opens.
