A genomic smear effect appears, the translucency of which can be regulated via a slider which appears below the gel (or on the Power Source if you are on the Lab Bench - see note to the right of the image). For the actual simulation, moving the slider knob to the left increases translucency, and moving the knob to the right decreases translucency, totally masking the fragments.
